The announcement arrives with a music video for the lead single, directed by Malcolm Pugh. Vocalist Chaney Crabb commented on the track's lengthy development. "'Golden Crown' is a song that we spent a few years writing and re-writing until we felt that we really had it right," she said. "The chorus of the song was originally written in 2020, long before we began working on this album, and it was so strong that we knew we had to include it on the album."

What is the new album about?

In a statement about the record, the band described "Empty on the Inside" as a deliberate throwback to a specific era. "From the start, our goal was to capture the raw, visceral energy that made '90s rock and metal so impactful and timeless by prioritizing authentic performances and our individual voices as musicians over hyper-polished modern production," they said. The album was recorded with producer Mark Lewis, known for his work with acts like The Black Dahlia Murder and Cannibal Corpse.

Who played on the album?

Core members Chaney Crabb and Navene Koperweis were joined in the studio by several notable collaborators. Guitar and vocal duties were handled by Scott Carstairs of Fallujah and Michael Stancel of Allegaeon. Evan Brewer returned to handle bass for the recording sessions.

What does the tracklist look like?

The album contains ten tracks. The full sequence includes the title track, the newly released single "Golden Crown," and a featured guest spot on the song "Tomblight" from Michael Lessard of The Contortionist and Last Chance To Reason.

Lyrically, "Golden Crown" explores a complex, destructive relationship. Crabb explained the central metaphor: "The lyric, 'I've worn you like a golden crown year after year,' represents a burden that is destroying you, but has also become how you define yourself." She noted the band aimed to channel '90s influences to create a heavier version of a rock song, complete with "creepy synths, huge chorus and an explosive breakdown."
