Kacey Musgraves Cancels Three Middle of Nowhere Tour Dates

Kacey Musgraves has canceled three shows from her upcoming Middle of Nowhere tour, including what was slated to be the trek’s opening night. The country star has not publicly addressed the sudden schedule change, leaving fans to speculate.

According to Rolling Stone, the affected dates are August 20 at Chicago’s United Center, August 29 at Boston’s TD Garden, and September 2 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Ticket holders for those concerts received emails over the weekend informing them of the cancellation and that refunds would be issued automatically to their original point of purchase.

Which Dates Were Canceled?

The three scrapped shows were all additional dates added to the tour itinerary after the initial announcement, reportedly due to strong initial demand. Their removal leaves the following schedule intact:

• August 21 at United Center in Chicago (now the tour’s opening night)
• August 28 at TD Garden in Boston
• August 31 & September 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York

A fan’s notification email for the Boston show, shared on Reddit, stated: “Please be advised that the Kacey Musgraves concert scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026 at TD Garden has been canceled. All tickets will be automatically refunded to fans at their original point of purchase. Please allow 7-10 business days for refunds to process.” Other reports indicate refunds may take up to 14-21 days.

The Album Behind the Tour

The project, which follows 2024’s Deeper Well, includes collaborations with Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Billy Strings, and Gregory Alan Isakov.

Why Were These Shows Cut?

No official explanation has been provided for the cancellations. Musgraves has not posted about the changes on her official social media accounts, and a representative for the singer declined to comment when reached by PEOPLE. As reported by Rolling Stone, the singer is currently on vacation in Greece.

Industry observers and fans online have speculated the cuts could be due to softer-than-expected ticket sales for the extra dates—a phenomenon sometimes colloquially referred to as “blue dot fever.” The core multi-night stands in cities like Nashville, Austin, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Seattle were not impacted.

What’s Next for the Tour?

The North American leg of the Middle of Nowhere Tour is still scheduled to run through October 27, concluding at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Opening acts across the run include Midland, Flatland Cavalry, Carter Faith, and others announced in April.

Following the North American run, Musgraves is set to embark on a brief Australian tour in January 2027 before heading to Europe the following month. Tickets for all remaining dates on the Middle of Nowhere tour are currently available.

The 'Mexico Honey' Video

Earlier this week, Musgraves released the video for her single 'Mexico Honey.' The clip features the singer performing the track in a karaoke-bar setting.

The song is currently on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, sitting at No. 59 as of July 2026. It has spent seven weeks on the chart so far, with that position also being its peak. 'Mexico Honey' is one of the most-played Musgraves tracks on streaming services like Deezer, alongside 'Dry Spell' and the album's title track.
