Minions & Monsters Box Office Day 21: Adds $3.4 Million as Domestic Total Hits $141.6 Million
The animated sequel led the holiday frame but posted the smallest debut in the franchise's history, while international audiences provided a stronger launch.

Minions & Monsters brings back the gibberish-spouting, banana-loving henchmen for their latest chaotic adventure. Directed by Pierre Coffin, the 90-minute animated film is a rambunctious, ridiculous, and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, and unleashed monsters onto the world before banding together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they created.
The voice cast is a star-studded ensemble. Pierre Coffin returns as the voice of James, Henry, Ed, Dick, and the entire Minion horde. Trey Parker voices Goomi, while Allison Janney plays Olivia. Christoph Waltz lends his voice to Max, and Jeff Bridges portrays both Frank and Elwood. Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, and Bobby Moynihan round out the cast as Dort, Debbie, and Phillips, respectively. The film is an adventure-comedy designed for the whole family.
The Box Office
The Minions & Monsters box office story is a tale of two halves. However, this debut marks the lowest opening in the franchise's history, falling short of the series' lofty norms.
Any domestic disappointment was offset by a robust international launch.
