Ryan Seacrest Reveals Why He Skipped the Swift-Kelce Wedding

Ever wonder what could pull a guest away from the wedding of the decade? For Ryan Seacrest, it was a patriotic duty.

The host revealed on his July 6 radio show, On Air With Ryan Seacrest, that he had to cancel his RSVP to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding due to a prior work commitment. "And so, I had to cancel."

The wedding, which reportedly took place on July 3, at New York City's Madison Square Garden, was a highly secretive affair. Seacrest recalled that Swift was thrilled when he initially accepted. "She was like, 'Oh, it's going to be so much fun. We're going to have the best time. It's going to go late,'" he said. He confirmed his attendance with the couple weeks later, but ultimately had to back out because his Disney special, Disney Celebrates America: Nashville's Star-Spangled Bash, began live broadcasts on the same day as the wedding.

Seacrest emphasized the confidential nature of the event. "I had to keep it secret," he said. "It was a confidential invitation to everybody that was invited." He didn't even tell his co-hosts Sisanie and Tanya Rad, joking that while they were reporting on wedding rumors, he was "on the inside screaming."

The host framed his decision as a professional obligation. "I had no choice," he stated. "This is part of my job at Disney." He tried to juggle both events but found it impossible as preparations for the televised special ramped up.
