Mary Bonnet Navigates a 'Different Universe' After Selling Sunset Exit

What does it feel like to leave the reality TV universe you helped build? For Mary Bonnet, it's a trip to a "different universe."

The longtime cast member of Netflix's Selling Sunset is officially not returning for the show's upcoming tenth season, a move confirmed when her contract was not renewed. However, Bonnet is setting the record straight: she hasn't left the brokerage that made her famous.

"I’m not fired to make that clear. I’m very much still the Vice President at the Oppenheim Group. I’m still very much a part of the Oppenheim Group and doing real estate and best friends with Jason [Oppenheim]," she told Inman News in June.

But the professional security doesn't erase the personal weirdness. During a July 7 appearance on Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey, Bonnet was asked about feeling FOMO as the cast films the new season without her. Her answer was candid.

"It’s weird," she admitted, recalling a recent conversation with Jason. "I was like, ‘Hey, what are you doing tomorrow?’ He’s like, ‘Oh, we’re filming like this thing,’ and he’s like, ‘I feel so weird saying that without you,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah.’"

She described the initial adjustment period as particularly surreal. "I think the first couple of days it was like, it felt like I was in a different universe," Bonnet shared.

Bonnet's exit is part of a larger casting shakeup for Season 10. She expressed a bittersweet perspective on the decision, hinting at behind-the-scenes pressures. "It was like, it’s sad, but you know, maybe it’ll do great for them... But to me, it’s a little sad," she said.

Despite the personal sting, Bonnet reportedly extended well-wishes to the show and her former co-stars, hoping that they succeed and get more positive, closing a chapter on one of reality TV's most recognizable faces, even as she continues her day job in luxury real estate.
