Harvey Keitel is currently shooting a new film written by his wife, Daphna Kastner, according to Variety. The veteran actor revealed the project and voiced significant concerns about artificial intelligence while attending the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.

Keitel told the outlet he is working on something that "really excites" him. "My wife wrote a script; she’s a writer, director, actress… We’re working on it," he said. He described the production as "sort of guerrilla warfare" and noted it involves college students on the crew, though he did not provide further details about the project.

He pointed to a specific example: an AI-generated audiobook of Homer’s "The Odyssey" narrated by a digital replica of Michael Caine’s voice. "They used his voice, but there was no emotion in it. They couldn’t reproduce Michael Caine’s beauty," he stated.

The actor suggested this highlights a fundamental limitation. "[It’s] this new industry that’s developing where actors are selling their image and their voices, but they can’t reproduce their emotional life," Keitel explained. He acknowledged AI could be used for good purposes but emphasized the need for "good people" to guide its development.
