Barry Ward Cast in Netflix's 'Grown Ups,' Introduces 'Everybody Digs Bill Evans' at Karlovy Vary

Barry Ward has been cast in the upcoming Netflix series Grown Ups, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ward portrays Harry Evans, the older brother of jazz legend Bill Evans, in Grant Gee's fiction feature debut. The film also stars Anders Danielsen Lie, Laurie Metcalf, and Bill Pullman. He traveled to the Czech festival to present the movie, which had its premiere earlier this year at the Berlin International Film Festival.

What is Barry Ward's role in 'Everybody Digs Bill Evans'?

Ward plays Harry Evans, a character caught in a heartbreaking family dilemma. "He finds himself in that really difficult position, a dilemma – namely looking after his younger brother, whom he loves, and trying to take him into the family home," the actor explained to THR. The role, while a supporting one, was one he pursued passionately. "I was sent the script and asked to tape for it, and I loved it," Ward recalls. "They gave me a one-page treatment... And I just thought, 'Oh, this is a job I would fucking love.'"

What other projects is he working on?

Ward has also been shooting The Flying Mountain, a film from director Nicolas Steiner. He describes it as a story "about two Irish brothers who go from the West Coast of Ireland to the Himalayas of Tibet in search of a white spot, which is basically the last place on Earth that has yet to be mapped by Google Maps." His upcoming Netflix series, Grown Ups, will feature him as part of a dysfunctional family. "I’m one of the brothers of the family in this dysfunctional family," he said.
