Hannah Niedermeier-Rubio, the 13-year-old daughter of TLC stars Kenny Niedermeier and Armando Rubio, is still suffering from partial blindness, facial drooping, and weakness following an unexplained brain bleed, the couple revealed. According to Page Six, the update was shared in the same video that detailed Rubio’s recent visa approval. The family is now focused on recovery — but the cause of the bleed remains unknown.

In the video, Rubio didn’t hide his gratitude. "Ever since Armando got here, oh my God, she has just gotten better and better and gone leaps and bounds," he added. "The doctors were so happy with her progress that they said, ‘Now, I think she would do better with you guys in a home setting.’"

Kenny Niedermeier said in the video that Hannah has been doing much better since Rubio arrived in Arizona.

How We Got Here

Rubio told Page Six on July 15 that he attempted to request a temporary humanitarian parole. He had difficulties crossing the border into the U.S., and a US Customs and Border Protection supervisor told him such requests hadn’t been granted since 2025. Rubio and his immigration attorney pursued a separate emergency request.

On July 18, Rubio was able to reunite with his family in Arizona after being granted an emergency humanitarian visa. That same day, he shared on Instagram that "We are very thankful for the amazing Customs & Border Patrol Officers in Arizona who ultimately approved and signed off on my visa & granted me entry into the United States."

The Reaction

The couple’s transparency has drawn support from fans and followers, though the medical mystery remains. Hannah’s symptoms — partial blindness, facial drooping, and weakness — persist, even as her mobility improves. The doctors’ confidence in her home recovery marks a milestone, but the road ahead is still uncertain.

What Happens Next

Hannah remains on preventative anti-seizure medication and brain swelling medication, TMZ reports. She has undergone MRIs and CT scans in hopes that doctors will uncover the underlying cause of the brain bleed — but so far, no explanation has been confirmed.

The family will stay in Arizona for more than a month while she recovers. Niedermeier told TMZ he’s still searching for an apartment in the area but noted the cost is very high.

Niedermeier confirmed to TMZ that the border challenges are not resolved. He told the outlet that Rubio would need to fully cross the border on Sunday to find out if his visa extension was granted. Niedermeier also said Rubio has to fully cross the border and then speak to border control to find out if his extension was approved.
