The renewal was confirmed by series creator Tyler Perry in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. Perry expressed gratitude to the show’s audience and excitement to continue the Bellarie family's story.

Created, directed, written, and executive produced by Tyler Perry, Beauty in Black follows two women leading starkly different lives. Kimmie, played by Taylor Polidore Williams, struggles to make a living after being kicked out by her mother. Mallory, played by Crystle Stewart, runs a successful business. Their lives become entangled with the wealthy, dysfunctional Bellarie family behind a cosmetics dynasty and a devious trafficking scheme. The series first premiered on Netflix in October 2024.

Why was the show renewed?

The renewal follows the show's significant success on the platform. According to Netflix, Season 1 spent seven weeks in the Global Top 10 and reached No. 1 in 28 countries. Season 2, released in two parts, spent six weeks in the Global Top 10 and reached No. 1 in 17 countries. This consistent performance appears to have convinced Netflix to extend the series beyond its planned conclusion.

What happens next?

A release date for Season 3 has not been announced. The logline for the third season reveals that Kimmie finally has a seat at the Bellarie table, but a deadly family feud forces her into an uneasy alliance with Mallory. Together, they navigate a world of blackmail, revenge, and buried secrets. The main cast, including Taylor Polidore Williams, Crystle Stewart, Amber Reign Smith, Xavier Smalls, and Debbi Morgan, is set to return.
