Tiffany Haddish Leads 'Backyard Baseball' Animated Series Cast

Tiffany Haddish will star in a new animated series based on the video game Backyard Baseball, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show, titled Backyard Sports: The Animated Series, is in development from Playground Productions.

Donald Faison and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are also part of the voice cast. Faison will play Dante Robinson, while Mintz-Plasse voices Dmitri Petrovich. Arturo Castro is set to voice the star player, Pablo Sanchez.

Who else is in the cast?

The ensemble includes Utkarsh Ambudkar as Achmed Khan, Deborah Baker Jr. as Kimmy Eckman, and Michael Vlamis as Tony Delvecchio. Ashleigh Crystal Hairston, Will Neff, Vincent Tong, Joey Rudman, and Lindsay Barnett round out the main performers.

What are the details of the series?

Backyard Sports: The Animated Series will consist of 20 episodes, each about 11 minutes long. Lindsay Barnett, CEO of Playground Productions, serves as an executive producer. Chris Waters is the showrunner, with Adam Aseraf and Sarah Nevada Smith as head writers and co-executive producers.

“I am beyond thrilled to announce our series today,” Barnett said in a statement. “The Backyard Sports characters have inspired imaginations for generations, and their stories have always felt bigger than the game itself.”

The series is part of what Playground calls its growing “Backyardiverse.”
