The CW Network has finalized a deal to renew its romantic drama Sullivan's Crossing for a fifth season, according to Deadline. The 10-episode season is scheduled to begin production in Nova Scotia later this summer and will premiere on the network in 2027.

This renewal secures the show's yearly release cadence on The CW, which has served as its first-window U.S. home since its debut. The pickup follows a similar fifth-season renewal for the series in Canada by CTV and Crave, which was announced over a month prior.

Who is the new head writer?

A significant creative change accompanies the renewal. Creator Roma Roth has stepped down from her role as head writer, a position she held for the show's first four seasons. She will be succeeded by Floyd Kane for the upcoming season. Roth remains an executive producer on Sullivan's Crossing and is developing another series based on Robyn Carr's novels.

"I could not be more excited that Sullivan's Crossing will be returning for its fifth season," Roth said in a statement. "I’m also delighted to welcome head writer Floyd Kane, whose talented storytelling will help shape the next chapter of Sullivan's Crossing."

How has the show performed?

The series, starring Morgan Kohan and Chad Michael Murray, has delivered strong numbers for The CW. Season-to-date, it has averaged over one million cross-platform viewers per episode. Linear television ratings for the current season have shown significant growth, including a 62% increase among adults aged 18-49 compared to previous seasons.

The show's availability on Netflix in the U.S. has provided a substantial boost. Its first three seasons launched on the streaming service last summer, and the recently concluded Season 4 debuted on Netflix on June 30. In its opening week, it ranked #6 on Netflix's global English-language series chart with three million views.
