Michael Dinner to IndieWire

Director Michael Dinner confirmed he has stayed on as a producer and director for Apple TV's Silo through its third and fourth seasons, with Season 3 premiering today.

Dinner, who has directed episodes across multiple genres, joined the series in its second season at the invitation of creator Graham Yost. He initially thought the job would last six months but has now spent three years working on the show. "I committed without even seeing or reading anything, because of Graham," Dinner told IndieWire.

What's New in Silo Season 3?

Season 3 introduces a parallel storyline set in present-day Washington, D.C., alongside the established plot set 300 years in the future. Dinner directed the season premiere and two other episodes, framing this new arc as a political thriller.

He cited films like Three Days of the Condor and The Parallax View as key influences.

How Do the Two Storylines Connect?

Dinner explained that both the past and future narratives are detective stories at their core. In the silo, engineer Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) is trying to piece together her erased memories. The director noted that exploring themes of memory and manipulation was part of the appeal of the new season.

"Both stories are detective stories," Dinner said. Silo is currently streaming on Apple TV.
