Prime Video Orders Stillwater Horror Series From Greg Berlanti & Carly Wray

Amazon MGM Studios has officially greenlit an eight-episode horror drama series titled Stillwater for Prime Video, according to Deadline. The project is based on the Skybound graphic novel by Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K Pérez and comes from executive producers Greg Berlanti and Carly Wray.

Berlanti and Wray are co-writing the series, which they describe as a mind-bending horror thriller. The story follows ex-con Daniel West, who receives a mysterious letter promising answers about his past and an inheritance in the small town of Stillwater. He discovers a community where nothing ages, no one dies, and nobody ever leaves.

What is the show about?

The creators framed the series as an exploration of community and the cost of immortality. “We’re thrilled to dive into Stillwater because it’s far beyond the usual immortality story,” Berlanti and Wray said. “It’s a horror show about a community that has to decide what forever is worth, and what they’re willing to do to protect it.”

What’s the production status?

Amazon secured the project in a bidding war in spring 2025 with a straight-to-series order contingent on delivering a pilot script and series bible. Based on that material, the series has now been officially greenlit and cleared for production after a year in development.

Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, called it “a truly original series that blends horror, mystery, and psychological suspense into something entirely unexpected.” The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Amazon MGM Studios, with additional executive producers from Berlanti Productions and Skybound Entertainment.
