Prime Video Debuts First Look at Mike Flanagan’s Carrie Series

Prime Video has unveiled the first official look at its upcoming series adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show, helmed by horror maestro Mike Flanagan, will premiere exclusively on the streamer this fall.

What is the new Carrie series about?

The series reimagines the classic story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White. After her father's sudden death, Carrie is thrust into public high school for the first time. She must navigate a viral bullying scandal, the pressures of the social-media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers, all while living under the fiercely protective, zealous watch of her mother, Margaret.

Who is in the cast?

Summer H. Howell stars as the titular Carrie White. Samantha Sloyan plays her domineering mother, Margaret White. The ensemble also includes Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle. Amber Midthunder stars as Miss Desjardin.

Why is this adaptation significant?

This marks the first time Stephen King’s debut novel has been adapted for a television series. Flanagan, known for The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, serves as showrunner, writes the series, and directs four of the eight episodes. King himself is an executive producer.
