Natasha Rothwell Joins Hulu's 'Cable Guy' Pilot

Natasha Rothwell has joined the cast of Hulu’s untitled ‘Cable Guy’ pilot, according to Deadline. The project is inspired by the 1996 Jim Carrey film of the same name.

Rothwell is set to play Gina, the sister of Steven Stephens, a character portrayed by Damon Wayans Jr. The character is described as an oddball with a dark sense of humor who lives at home with their parents.

What is the 'Cable Guy' pilot about?

The series explores the darkly absurd side of modern-day male friendship. Its logline sets the scene: in a world dominated by streaming and algorithms, an old-school cable technician named Chip Douglas (Jake Johnson) reconnects with a childhood friend, Steven Stephens, when Steven calls to have his cable turned back on. The rekindled relationship gives each man something he’s been missing, but Chip’s enthusiasm eventually turns into obsession.

Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. lead the series and also serve as executive producers. Rob Rosell and Joe Piarulli, along with Luan Thomas, are co-showrunners and co-wrote the pilot. Rothwell is the creator, executive producer, and star of the Hulu series How to Die Alone. She is best known for her Emmy-nominated performance as Belinda Lindsey in HBO’s The White Lotus, a role she recently reprised for the show's third season.
