Tom Holland says he felt immediate relief when Robert Pattinson joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic, The Odyssey.

According to Deadline, Holland discussed the casting during a recent roundtable interview with Entertainment Weekly. He explained that the friction between their characters is central to the story, and Pattinson's ability to play antagonistic roles gave him confidence.

"I knew when I found out that you were playing Antinous that I could relax because you're so good at being a dickhead," Holland said.

In the film, Holland portrays Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, played by Matt Damon. Pattinson takes on the role of Antinous, one of the suitors vying for the hand of Odysseus's wife, Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway. Holland emphasized the importance of their dynamic, noting it establishes the stakes for the protagonist's journey.

"The friction between our characters is so important for my entire journey," Holland explained. "I was really nervous about trying to make sure that that felt authentic and scary enough for my character to make this desperate decision to go on this journey."

The two actors have an established working relationship. Holland noted they have "made three movies together now, all very different."
