Lucas Museum Reveals Comic-Con Plans to Screen Lost 'Star Wars Detours' Series

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art will screen episodes of the previously unaired animated series Star Wars Detours, creator Seth Green revealed during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the museum, which opens in September, will feature expansive exhibitions and two theaters screening various films and shorts.

Green, who created the show with his Robot Chicken partner Matthew Senreich, made the announcement during a panel in Hall H. “There is going to be a curation of episodes of that show on display for the public,” he said. The series is a CGI-animated comedy parody of the Star Wars franchise, offering a comedic take on events between the prequel and original trilogies.

Senior curator Ryan Linkof detailed the museum's film offerings, which will be housed in two theaters. The Robert Flaherty Theater will focus on documentaries about artists featured in the museum, while the Slavko Vorkapich Theater will screen early silent films, animations, anime including Cowboy Bebop, an episode of Star Wars: Visions, and student films by George Lucas.

The panelists emphasized the museum's focus on popular and commercial arts. “It will be the home for the kinds of art that we live with,” Linkof said. Artist Jim Lee, who will have work displayed, said the museum elevates commercial art. Green added a personal perspective: “We’ve lived long enough to see all the stuff that we were beaten for loving become the fine art of our day.”

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is scheduled to open to the public in September.
