Artists Equity, Robert Pattinson's Icki Eneo Arlo Partner On 'Shot in the Dark' Documentary

Artists Equity, Hidden Content, Ultraboom Media, and Robert Pattinson’s Icki Eneo Arlo have partnered to produce the documentary Shot in the Dark, according to Deadline. The film will chronicle the journey of the first U.S. Paralympic blind soccer team.

It follows the team from its historic formation in 2022 through to its attempt to win a gold medal at the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. The documentary is being co-directed by Jay Shapiro and Adam Donald.

What is the documentary about?

Shot in the Dark tracks the team's multi-year quest for Paralympic glory. Blind soccer is a fast-paced, five-a-side sport where four blind players and a sighted goalkeeper rely on sound and trust. The ball rattles as it moves, and matches unfold in near silence so players can hear its chime.

"What drew us to Shot in the Dark was not only our absolute awe of the sport, but the extraordinary athletes themselves," said Damon, Chief Creative Officer of Artists Equity. "The skill, trust, and courage it takes to compete at this level is something most of us can barely imagine."

Who is producing the film?

A coalition of production companies is behind the project. Hidden Content has been filming with the team since its first tryouts in late 2022. Producers include Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Kyle Wheeler of Artists Equity; Robert Pattinson and Brighton McCloskey from Icki Eneo Arlo; and teams from Hidden Content and Ultraboom Media.

"It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to follow a team from day one tryouts for almost six years to the biggest stage imaginable," said Hidden Content’s Gentile. Robert Pattinson added that seeing the players in action captures "the undeniable thrill of athletic competition alongside a truly triumphant determination of will."
