What does the 4DX preview show?

The preview, presented in the immersive 4DX format, featured tense chase scenes. The audience experienced seat movements and water effects during dinosaur attacks. In the footage, Hathaway and McGregor's characters search for their dog, armed with a baseball bat and shotgun, before discovering their entire neighborhood has been transported into a land of roaming dinosaurs.

Director Mitchell, who attended the screening, remarked on the experience. "Especially seeing the seats shifting with the driving!" he said, laughing. He explained his approach to merging the fantastical with the mundane. "The idea of a normal neighborhood was something that is so fantastical. I thought the merging of those two things would be interesting, grounding the spectacle."

Is it just an action movie?

Both Mitchell and Abrams stressed the film's emotional core. Abrams praised the script, noting, "The brilliance of what you wrote is that each of the characters has a secret, essentially." He added, "It’s not a sadistic movie. It’s got a big heart at its core."

Mitchell described casting actors who could bring naturalism to the family drama. "They are us," he said of the characters. "It’s the idea of being able to view ourselves. They are a traditional family." He elaborated on Hathaway's character, Denise, having a conflict about her place in life and connection to her family.

The film features a score by Michael Giacchino, known for his work on the "Jurassic World" films. Abrams said the composer excels at identifying "the heartbeat of the scene."
